After announcing that Tomas Scheckter would drive the No.24 Dallara Honda in Toronto, team Dreyer & Reinbold has now confirmed that J.R. Hildebrand will take over at both the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Infineon Raceway events.
The 22-year-old American driver will compete for D&RR in the IZOD IndyCar Series’ Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio August 6-8 and then return to action at the Infineon Raceway on August 20-22.
As in the case of Scheckter, the 2009 Indy Lights champion will substitute for injured Mike Conway.
The American tested for the Force India Formula 1 team last winter.
Hildebrand recorded four victories and 11 top-five finishes overall on the way to last year’s Firestone Indy Lights championship with AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing.
In 2006, Hildebrand won the Cooper Tires Formula Ford 2000 championship, posting a record 12 victories in 14 races.
