Indianapolis-based IndyCar team Vision Racing has closed its doors and will not field a car in the IZOD IndyCar series this season.

In their most recent official messages sent on Twitter, the team declared “Efforts to find a solid sponsor partnership have been difficult’ and “Despite the team's best efforts, Vision Racing will be suspending all racing operations”.

Tony and Laura George and Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey of Grey’s Anatomy created the team in 2005.

The team ran several drivers including Ed Carpenter, AJ Foyt Jr , Paul Tracy, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Tomas Schecker in the past.

On January 19, Tony George the founder of the Indy Racing League, grandson of the late Tony Hulman whose family owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway resigned from his remaining positions in the family business.

Earlier in the year, George resigned from his position of CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indy Racing League.

Today, George closes the doors of his own IndyCar team.
