The very recent Formula 2 championship, which has just concluded its second season of existence, will no longer support race of the FIA WTCC next season, and its future looks bleak.

The Eurosport sport channel has announced it would no longer broadcast the Formula 2 races from next year, and has started to investigate which other motorsport series it would cover next year.

The World Touring Car Championship has already staged a round with the World Series Renault 3.5 in Monza, which was already a bad sign for the F2 series.

The WTCC also announced it would be leaving Brands Hatch in favour of Donington in 2011.

Remember that the circuit of Brands Hatch is managed (along with other UK road circuits) by Jonathan Palmer Motorsport Vision, the company that is also the promoter of Formula 2 championship.

In two years of existence, the Formula 2 has certainly not achieved its goal of becoming the best stepping-stone to Formula 1.

Andy Soucek, the 2009 champion, did not manage to find a seat in Formula 1, despite contacts with Williams.

Dean Stoneman, the new reigning champion, will test for Williams in Abu Dhabi but will also have huge difficulties to find a full-time drive.
