Most Canadian drivers should follow the ‘severe’ duty schedule for air filter maintenance, changing theirs at the most frequent interval. This is especially true if you frequently drive in stop and go traffic or in dusty areas.

Not sure when your engine’s air filter was last changed? Open up the air box and pull it out. If it’s black in color and jammed full of leaves, dead bugs and sand, you’ll want to swap it as soon as possible. If it’s fairly clean looking and allows light to shine through, it’s probably still good. If in doubt, ask a mechanic.
