Canadian race car driver and former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve has confirmed Auto123.com that he will contest the famed 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps GT event.

Villeneuve will be part of the Gravity Racing International team that has entered a Mosler MT900R for the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.

Joining him will be experienced Belgian driver Vincent Radermecker, Dutch/Chinese Ho-Pin Tung and team manager/driver Loris de Sordi.

“It will be great to contest this endurance race,” Villeneuve told Auto123.com.

“I got the invitation to drive the car at Spa. The Mosler is a very fast car, powered by a four-litre V-8 engine, which I really like. The Mosler usually runs in the GT3 category but since it is quite fast, the organisers entered it in the faster GT2 class at Spa.”

“I really enjoyed the fantastic circuit of Spa. I have raced there in Formula 1, in endurance racing with Peugeot, in a WTCC at the 12 Hours, and now I will contest the 24 Hours event. When I hear that I have the opportunity to race at Spa, I say ‘yes’ immediately!” Villeneuve concluded.

Villeneuve also said that he was delighted to have concluded a deal to drive “a very good car” at the NAPA Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Nationwide race in Montreal at the end of August.
