Villeneuve will compete in the Las Vegas truck event this weekend.

The entry list for the Smith's Las Vegas 350 Craftsman Truck Series event to be held this weekend in Las Vegas has been published today by NASCAR. The #27 Toyota Tundra entered by Bill Davis Racing will be driven by former Formula 1 champion, Jacques Villeneuve, of Montreal, Quebec.

Thirty-six competitors are entered in this event - the 19th round of the season - to be presented on the 1.5-mile, D shaped Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Villeneuve, the winner of the Indy 500 in 1995, will be joined by another Indy winner, Buddy Lazier who captured the prestigious event in 2000.

Villeneuve is the third Formula 1 driver to compete in the series. The first was Eliseo Salazar of Chile, who finished 17th at Watkins Glen International in 1997. Olivier Beretta of Monaco was the most recent. He finished 17th at Heartland Park Topeka (Kan.) in 1999. However, Villeneuve is the first to compete on an oval track.
