The 2008 "Ride Green and Drive Clean" event, sponsored by the University of Waterloo Alternate Fuels Team (UWAFT), will be held Wednesday, April 30, at the Direct Energy Centre, in Toronto. Visitors will get a closer look at Canada's first zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

Members of the medias are invited to step behind the wheel and drive this innovative vehicle on a 340-meter interior track. Representatives of the UWAFT development staff will be on hand to present their project and the technology being used. In addition, three marquee guests will give lectures: Gary Lunn, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, David Miller, Mayor of Toronto, and Adel S. Sedra, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Chosen among 150 institutions, the University of Waterloo is one of 17 universities in North America to have a stand at this event and the only one to compete in the Challenge X, the goal of which is to modify a regular vehicle to run on alternative fuels while delivering the same performance.
