Jules Bianchi (Ferrari) dominated Felipe Massa’s karting event, but his disqualification meant Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso) took top honours.

"I feel sorry for Jules, but rules are for everybody. Anyway, the important thing is to be part of a big party like this. I love to come to Brazil and Florianópolis, and I look forward to being here again next year", commented Alguersuari.

Bianchi – Ferrari’s reserve driver – showed everybody in attendance just what he could do, by dominating both days, in the wet and in the dry. Victory was handed to Alguersuari only after Bianchi failed to comply with the minimum weight after the race.

In third, organizer Massa enjoyed his first taste of the champaign in a long time, after a couple of rough F1 seasons.

"After such a complicated year like this, it is a good feeling at least to get to the podium. It is for sure a big push for the new season in Formula 1", said Massa.

Alguersuari did well to represent his co-workers. His triumph extended F1 drivers' string of success to six, since the creation of the event back in 2006. Massa took the inaugural win, soon followed by Michael Schumacher (2007, 2009), Rubens Barrichello (2008) and Luca di Grassi (2010).
