Young Canadian drivers are eagerly waiting until later this month, when the all-new 2010 Kia Soul compact crossover is scheduled to arrive in showrooms. Now, they know that the company held up its promise of affordable pricing and interesting value.

Motivated by a 122-horsepower, 1.6-liter engine, the base model with five-speed manual transmission will retail for $15,495. Meanwhile, at the top of the range, the distinctively-equipped Soul 4u Burner model with four-speed automatic transmission will carry an MSRP of $22,195.

Standard features include six airbags, power locks, windows and heated mirrors, AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with AUX and USB input ports, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and even heated seats.

Higher-end models add, among other things, a 142-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine, 16- or 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, four disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Stability Control, not to mention air conditioning and specific seat cloth.

Exclusive to the Soul 4u, which starts at $19,995, are leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, metal finish interior trim, a power sunroof, premium audio and a sport-tuned suspension.

Kia soul also came up with a Retro model featuring a beige and black interior color scheme and a "Houndstooth" seat pattern, as well as a sport-oriented Burner model adding a red and black interior and a rear spoiler.
