Kia's Magentis has been updated and restyled for 2009 to bring its looks and character in line with the automakers goal of building exciting cars. Competing with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Malibu, the Korean sedan has its work cut out for it- though Kia's confident that their latest sedan has what it takes.

Up front, an aggressive headlight and grille treatment give the Magentis a bit of a scowl, while the rear end is set off with a sharp-edge hood and a set of dual-outlet exhaust pipes. These are attached to either a 2.7 liter V6 engine with 190 horsepower, or a 2.4 liter inline four cylinder powerplant with 175 ponies.

Both engines boast an aluminum block for lighter weight, and a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission are available, depending on driver preference.

Inside, the 2009 Magentis treats occupants to black leather seats, aluminum trim, sport pedals and an automatic climate control system. There's an Infiniti stereo system available with a six-CD changer as well, and a simple three-pod instrument cluster sets off the driving environment.

For safety and confidence, Magentis comes with a full complement of safety features including stability control, tire pressure monitoring, brake assist and active headrests. Canadian pricing will be available closer to the fall, when the machine goes on sale.
