Kumho: official supplier for the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR

Last July 20th, Kumho Tire CEO Chang-Kyu Kim announced that the tire manufacturer will be the official supplier for the new Dodge Viper ACR 2016.

One of a kind
The ACR 2016 is the fastest version in the Viper’s history. It is the only racing-level vehicle that is also legal on public roads. Beneath the hood, you’ll find the Viper’s fierce 8.4L V10 that generates 645 horsepower, with a top speed of 284 km/h.

High-performance tires
Since the Dodge Viper can sometimes prove hard to handle, it was crucial to provide this powerful car with tires offering the best performance available with outstanding driveability and control. This is why Dodge chose Kumho’s Ecsta V720 -- which was specifically designed and tested for the Viper -- as its official tire for the 2016 edition. With 295/25R19 up front and 355/30R19 in the back, the standard tires on the Viper ACR 2016 are the largest in the industry. Thanks to its unique formulation and its tread specially designed for the Viper, the Ecsta V720 has shown in testing that it could perform 1.5 seconds faster than all its competitors.

Technological design
Reinforced outside shoulder tread and an asymmetrical pattern allow the Ecsta V720 to offer increased stability and control. Thanks to Kumho, this Viper can reach up to 1.5G when cornering. The tire was optimized to enhance the car’s great speed and thus provide an unforgettable driving experience. The Ecsta V720 was aesthetically designed with a unique sidewall showing the ACR logo with a detailed snake. According to Hyun-Ho Kim, Senior Vice-Chairman of Kumho Tire, supplying tires for the Dodge Viper ACR 2016 is quite an achievement because it means that Kumho’s technological innovations are recognized by the industry, and that their strenuous efforts to improve their racing technologies over the years have finally been rewarded.

Production of the Viper ACR 2016 should begin in the fall, and collectors and speed enthusiasts should be able to get their hands on one before long.
