Jean-Christophe Boullion was slightly injured when he crashed the new Pescarolo 03 LMP1 prototype on Wednesday, and is not well enough to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The former Formula 1 driver, who hit the guard rails at more than 268 kph, is suffering considerable pain in his ribs, even if no cracks have been detected.

His two teammates, Frenchman Emmanuel Collard and British driver Stuart Hall, will have to share the wheel of the car during the full 24 hours of the race. They will start from the 13th position on the grid.

“I prepared my drivers to run alone,” said Henri Pescarolo to website endurance-info.

“They have to prepare themselves not to sleep during the entire race. Some drivers do not sleep even if they're three sharing the car, so with two drivers it’s impossible. I know what I’m talking about, I almost never slept when I was racing”.

Depending to their level of fitness, each driver will try to make double stints, or even triple stints, in order to allow their partner to rest as much as possible.
