Group Lotus has announced that it will design and build a LMP2 car in order to enter 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The british company wants to extend its motorsport involvement, as it recently announced his partnership with ART to contest GP2 and GP3 series in the future. Moreover, two Lotus-backed cars will compete the 2011 Indycar championship. In GT, the Evora model already runs in GT4 category, and will soon be available for GT2 and GT3.
Group Lotus recently entered into a dispute with Tony Fernandes, owner of Lotus Racing in F1, for the use of Lotus name in motorsport activities.
