Bigger, stronger, safer and more powerful than its predecessor, Lexus's new LX model is aimed to set the bar for luxury in the premium SUV class. The 8-passenger machine casts about the same footprint as the former LX470 while carrying additional safety and performance features.

Lexus says the new model builds on the core attributes of the original- namely luxury, smoothness and a sense of security and style. "The original Lexus LX set the trend for the full-size luxury SUV, and the newest version, the LX 570, truly sets a new standard in luxury and technology for its class," said Mark Templin, VP of Lexus Division Group. "The new LX 570 sets a high-water mark for a Lexus utility vehicle by providing the ideal combination of on- and off-highway capability while at the same time increasing the luxury quotient and roominess."

A new 5.7 litre V8 offers up 42% more power than the 4.7 litre powerplant it replaces, and it's expected to achieve an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) designation in spite of its 383 horsepower punch. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode is standard, and the powertrain upgrades have helped Lexus unlock 2,000 pounds of additional towing capacity for the new model- bringing the total to 8,500. Adaptive Variable Suspension and Active Height Control help ensure a great ride at all times, and the permanent four wheel drive system keeps the SUV planted firmly to the road.

Additional peace of mind and security come from a first-in-class Pre-Collision system and Adaptive Radar Cruise Control. There are even cameras mounted facing hard-to-see areas, to help drivers park in tight situations.
