The Automobile Club de l'Ouest has published the list of participants to the 2011 season of the Le Mans Series.

Following the creation of the Intercontinental Cup, which will mix some rounds of the Le Mans Series, American Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series in an international series, the LMS championship has lost many of its regular competitors.

Therefore, Peugeot, Audi, BMW and ORECA, among others preferred to focus on ILMC, and not compete for the LMS races except for the rounds that are also part of the ILMC (Spa and Silverstone).

Finally, 36 competitors will run the five events of European championship (see below). In the LMP1 class (6 cars), team Rebellion isbe favorite with its two Lola-Toyotas, while RML and Strakka Racing’s HPD ARX-01d will be the cars to beat in LMP2 (11 prototypes at the start).

For the first time this year, the GT class will be splitted into two new "subcategories": GTE and GTE-Pro-Am, where Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin will fight for victory.

Finally, the small Formula Le Mans prototype series will also join the field this year again.

The top two in each category (the first only for Formula Le Mans) will receive an invitation for the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans.

- 1‐2‐3 july, Imola 6 Hours (Italy)
