In an effort to compete with long-wheelbase versions of the BMW 7-series and the Mercedes-Benz S-class, Audi will bring a stretch version of its A8 luxury sedan to market.
The A8 L will there appear in U.S. showrooms this spring but will not make it north of the border for about a year after that.
Interior space will grow along with the increased wheelbase, but there'll also be a whole new set of toys (stability control, GPS navigation, etc) and a more powerful version of the 4.2-litre V8.
This engine produces 310 horsepower and 302 lbs. ft. of torque between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm and sits in a more rigid body suspended on a revised aluminum independent front and rear multi-link suspension.
