Walk the Geneva show floor, and it's easy to be jealous of the exotic--and not so exotic--machinery that we don't have the opportunity to buy in Canada.

But they do sell Maseratis here. And marking the 60th anniversary of Maserati's first road car, the original Gran Turismo, the Italian company is rebadging their redesigned grand touring coupe with the same name.

Same name, same design house. As the new Grand Turismo has also been penned by Pininfarina, as was the original back that debuted at the 1947 Geneva show. Based on the racing chassis of the Maserati A6, the original Gran Turismo was the first production Maserati.

Maserati claims the modern Gran Turismo's curb weight is an ideal 49/51% rear bias. The new GT coupe retains the last model's Ferrari-designed 4.2-litre V8 that's also found in the Quattroporte sedan, but with a 9 horsepower increase now totalling 405. It's mated to a new automatic that was recently put into the Quattroporte, but expect a paddle-shifted sequential available in the future as well.
