2012 Mazda5 Goes On Sale Early In January 2011


Richmond Hill, ON – Mazda Canada today announced that the 2012 Mazda5 compact multi-activity vehicle will have a starting manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $21,795. The 2012 Mazda5 will go on sale in Canada early in January 2011.

The 2012 Mazda5 will be offered in two trim grades: a well-appointed GS and top-of-the-line GT. All versions of the Mazda5 are powered by a new 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine which produces 157 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. A new 6-speed manual transmission is standard, with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission optional ($1,200). Air conditioning, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control and dual front and side airbags for first row passengers and side air curtains that protect all three rows are also featured on every new Mazda5.

“The Mazda5 is the perfect vehicle for anyone who needs flexible seating and lots of cargo space, but wants that in a stylish, compact, fuel efficient and affordable vehicle,” said Dave Klan, Senior Director of Sale and Marketing for Mazda Canada. “With the enhancements we’ve made to the 2012 model and a starting price of $21,795, the Mazda5 is a smart choice for value conscious consumers with active lifestyles.”

With the flexibility of seating for six, or up to 857-litres of cargo space, rear sliding doors for easy access, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and numerous safety features, the 2012 Mazda5 GS is very well equipped for a starting price of $21,795. An optional Convenience Package that includes: Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, cruise control, trip computer, leather wrapped steering wheel and anti-theft alarm system is available for an additional $845.

The top-of-the-line Mazda5 GT trim grade standardizes all the equipment from the GS with Convenience Package and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, heated cloth seats, lumbar support for the driver seat, SIRIUS satellite radio, Xenon headlights and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for $24,395.

The optional GT Luxury Package includes power moonroof, leather seats and a second-row table that folds out from underneath one of the second-row captain’s chairs is priced at $1,790.

Since it was introduced as a 2006 model, Mazda has retailed over 50,000 Mazda5s in Canada and is the company’s second best selling nameplate, after the Mazda3.
