Mazda Canada Inc. today announced the all-new Mazda6 sedan will go on sale in Canada in January 2003 as a 2004 model. Production of Canadian specification Mazda6 vehicles will commence early in January at AutoAlliance International Inc. in Flat Rock, Michigan.

Shipment to Canadian dealers will follow immediately afterward and the 2004 Mazda6 will be in showrooms across Canada by the end of January 2003.
The Mazda6 is an all-new intermediate sedan aimed at consumers who are young-at-heart and enjoy driving. The exterior design emphasizes athletic tension and dynamic balance with a distinctive Mazda look. Interior design provides spaciousness and comfort for 5 adults with excellent ergonomics and innovations in space utilization. The 2004 Mazda6 will be available in Canada with a choice of either a 160-horsepower 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine or a 220-horsepower, 3.0-litre V6 engine.
"Dealer input and support is a critical component in any successful vehicle launch", said Mike Benchimol, president of Mazda Canada Inc. "Thanks to our dealers' recommendations, voiced through our National Dealer Council, we have established a launch plan that will make the 2004 Mazda6 a big hit here in Canada. I'm very encouraged with their enthusiasm for this new vehicle".
Prices for the 2004 Mazda6 will be released at a later date.
The Mazda6 (called the Atenza in Japan) was launched earlier this year in Japan and Europe to critical acclaim, with sales exceeding the company's forecasts.
Mazda Canada Inc. is responsible for the sales and marketing, customer service and parts support of Mazda vehicles in Canada. Headquartered in Scarborough, Ontario, Mazda Canada has approximately 150 dealerships nationwide.
