Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that cumulative production of the Mazda3 (known in Japan as the Axela) reached three million units on April 26, 2011 – making it the fastest-selling model in the brand's current lineup of passenger vehicles.
Built in Japan, China and Thailand, and sold in approximately 90 countries, the popular compact achieved this milestone in just seven years and ten months.
Mazda's senior managing executive officer in charge of R&D, Hirotaka Kanazawa, said the Mazda3 now comprises a third of all Mazda vehicle sales around the globe.
