Sadly, the MAZDASPEED6 sport sedan is also discontinued for 2008. Let's hope it will return in 2009, with the arrival of an all-new Mazda6.
For 2008, the Mazda3 compact sedan and wagon return virtually unchanged. In 2007, the 3 had received side-impact protection in order to make the car more competitive with its Civic and Sentra rivals. The MAZDASPEED3 also carries on unchanged.
The RX-8 4-door sports car will celebrate 40 years of Mazda rotary engines by offering a limited-edition 40th-anniversary model. Available in early 2008, the car will get a grey paint job and red leather seating and trim. This special RX-8 will also get 18-inch wheels, suspension upgrades, fog lamps, a silver engine cover and badging.
The B-Series pickup enters its 15th year of production in its current form. The B3000 will be discontinued in the U.S. for 2008, but no word yet if it will still be offered in Canada. The B2300 gets upgraded shock absorbers, and the B4000 gets a 16-mm ride height decrease. The B4000 SE model gets front suspension skid plates.
The 2008 Tribute SUV was introduced earlier this year, and goes on unchanged for now. A hybrid version of the Tribute, based on the Ford Escape Hybrid, is sold in the U.S. but is not yet offered in Canada.
