A McLaren 570S Spider will hit the market in 2017, McLaren Automotive global communications director Wayne Bruce told Australia’s Car Advice during the launch of the 570S coupe.
“The Sports Series will eventually have three body styles – 2017 we will launch [570S] Spider,” Bruce said. “What I can tell you [about the 2016 car] is… it’s coming in quarter two of next year, so not long to wait.”
In related news, McLaren Sports Series manager Andy Palmer said a decision on a convertible version of the entry-level 540C has yet to be approved. It may very well depend on the customer response for the McLaren 570S Spider.
Furthermore, Bruce and Palmer insisted once again that they won’t pursue a foray into the performance SUV segment, putting an end to rumours of a McLaren alternative to the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga, and future Rolls-Royce SUV.
