Mercedes-AMG Technician to Assemble Two 604-HP V12s at Chicago Auto Show

As part of the introduction of the new Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG to media present on the Chicago Auto Shows media days, that run February 9th through 10th, prior to the doors of the show opening on Friday, February 11th, M-B AMG technician Michael Pfugfelder will assemble two identical 604-horsepower AMG V12 engines from a myriad of individual components to two finished, running examples.

all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class set to be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It combines top-tier luxury with overwhelming power, allowing it to propel from zero to 100 km/h in about 4.3 seconds.

Currently, Mercedes-Benz' AMG division produces the engine in a version of its SL roadster, dubbed SL65 AMG, as well as a top-of-the-line CL coupe, named CL65 AMG. In such applications the engine makes an otherworldly 738 lb-ft of torque - a good indication of what can be expected in the new S65 AMG. A twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder version of the luxury automaker's new CLS sedan/coupe hybrid is also expected to be produced.
