Basically the only premium brand not offering a drastically-styled crossover, Mercedes-Benz hopes to make waves with the MLC, an all-new vehicle currently being developed from the ML platform, but using CLS-inspired design cues, and expected to hit the market in the 2014 model year.
A 544-horsepower AMG version is reportedly planned as well. The new MLC will benefit from the all-wheel drive system found in the M-Class, but with softer suspensions tuned for “regular roads” driving.
Since a mere 3,917 copies of the BMW X6 were sold in Canada and the United States in the first seven months of 2011, critics are already questioning the move.
However, the X6 proves very popular in other markets, especially Russia and the Middle East, and Mercedes is still involved in an all-out war with its domestic rival.
We're definitely anxious to see the final result!
