People living in and visiting the Montreal area for the 2007 Presidents Cup are going to be seeing a lot of Mercedes Benz products. The German luxury automaker has been selected as the official car sponsor of the event, and vehicles with the Presidents cup logo will be used to shuffle around players, VIP's and dignitaries throughout the week.
The highly anticipated golf competition will give Mercedes Benz products a lot of visibility, although common interests were at play in the decision too.
CEO Marcus Breitschwerdt explains.
"Canada is thrilled to host the Presidents Cup this year and Mercedes-Benz Canada is equally excited to be a part of this prestigious event as a preferred supplier and the official car. While Mercedes-Benz Canada has been involved in numerous golf initiatives over the last decades, it is the first time we sponsor such a highly visible event. We respect what the Presidents Cup stands for and are extremely proud to be associated with this world acclaimed competition."
The event has no purse for players, but international teams play to help raise money for charities or golf-related projects. Since its inception, the Presidents Cup has raised over $13 million dollars.
