Rugged wagon not planned for North America

The Mercedes E-Class is available in Canada in both sedan and wagon variants, yet there is no immediate plan for us to get the all-new E-Class All-Terrain model that’s set to make its global debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show next week. But you never know…

Thanks to off-road-based design features, the All-Terrain boasts a powerful and robust look and at the same time stands out from the traditional wagon, the company says, while adding that dynamic sportiness and modern luxury are combined with status-enhancing poise and assurance.

More specifically, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain features standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive, adaptive AIR BODY CONTROL suspension, larger wheels and tires and resulting in increased ground clearance (+29 mm at the most), flared wheel arches, underbody plates, an SUV-style radiator grille, and unique 3-part bumpers (with the lower part in grained black plastic).

If you’re not exactly fond of SUVs like the GLC 300, or you find the little B 250 too weak, the E-Class All-Terrain wagon would have been a great alternative ― and fantastic competition for the freshly unveiled Volvo V90 Cross Country. Keep your fingers crossed!
