The new Mercedes-Benz G550 4X42 (pronounced “square”) will go on sale in the U.S. early in 2017.
Standing 2.2 metres tall and 2.1 metres wide, this larger-than-life SUV is based on a G 63 AMG 6X6, but with one less axle. Ground clearance is a towering 450 millimetres, helping it tackle numerous obstacles and cross rivers up to one metre deep very easily.
Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz G550 4X42 is a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque through a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the interior features COMAND infotainment with 8” touchscreen, navigation, and more.
Pricing remains unknown, but expect it to trump the Mercedes-AMG G 65’s $217,900 USD tag.
