Environmental sensitivity and performance go hand in hand for a new Mitsubishi concept that will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The concept RA combines passionate design, an exciting driving experience and clean, efficient diesel power. The RA features the same Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) and Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission found in the Lancer Evolution. S-AWC system ensures safe and nimble handling, while the Twin Clutch gearbox handles shifting in fractions of a second while saving fuel.
That's all driven by a new 2.2 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with dual cams and 16 valves. A variable geometry turbocharger and piezoelectric injectors running from a common-rail fuel system ensure smooth, broad power delivery and great mileage. Power is rated at 204 horsepower.
The new engine is clean too, with a diesel oxidation catalyst, NOx trap catalyst and diesel particulate filter technologies on board.
Some think diesel powered machines aren't the most exciting on the road, but the RA begs to differ. It's got a sleek, super-car side profile, thinly-slit head and taillamps, and splitters in both front and rear. Large wheels and dual-exhaust help to set it off from any angle.
Detroit Motor Show goers can check out RA at the Cobo Center in Detroit from January 19 to 27.
