For the first time, Dodge and Mopar have worked together to create a limited-edition version of the 2010 Challenger, and it's called the Mopar '10.

It will only be available in black, but with a choice of three accent colours: Mopar Blue, Red or Silver. Inside, the car will feature Katzkin leather seats with contrast stitching in the same colour as the exterior stripes. The Mopar '10 also features a custom leather-wrapped wheel, a Mopar T-handle with the automatic transmission and a pistol-grip lever in manual-equipped models.

Only 500 copies of the Mopar '10 will be sold throughout the United States and Canada. Each will come with an owner kit that will include a certificate with the car's VIN, a limited-edition sketch of the car signed by exterior designer Mark Trostle, a book about the vehicle's build and other Mopar merchandise.

Other highlights include 20-inch wheels that are painted gloss black, a hood scoop for cold air intake that is said to add about 15 horsepower to the HEMI 5.7-litre V8, the Super Track Pack that's optional on the Challenger R/T (heavy-duty brakes, high-performance suspension, performance steering), front and rear strut tower braces, a black chrome grille and--just like the good old days--hood pins.

Some components that are added to the Mopar '10 will also be available in the Mopar parts catalogue, including the hood scoop, which means you could detail your Challenger to resemble the Mopar '10, but the accent stripes and the owner kit remain exclusivities.

In Canada, the Mopar '10 will cost $41,390 with an automatic transmission and $43,390 with a 6-speed manual, which excludes a $1,400 freight charge. That's about $6K more than a Challenger R/T.

If you want one, you'd better get cracking.
