Japanese driver Shoya Tomizawa, 19, lost his life Sunday during the San Marino Grand Prix.
The driver of the Moto2 category lost control of his ride when his tire slips on a curb while he was third in the race. He fell to the ground, bringing with him Italian Alex de Angelis and Briton Scott Redding who where only slightly hurt in the fall.
It is believed that one of the driver-free-rides then hit Tomizawa who was then already on the ground, causing him fatal thorax, abdomen and cranial injuries.
The driver died shortly after he was brought at the Riccione Hospital after the accident. He was the first driver to lose his life since Japanese driver Daijiro Kato, 24, in the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix in April 2003.
