Rumours had been circulating recently in the paddocks, but it has now been officially confirmed that Casey Stoner will miss the next three rounds of the 2009 MotoGP World Championship.
The Australian has been suffering from a mysterious energy-sapping illness, thought to be anaemia, in the last five rounds, losing pace from mid-race on.
Stoner will miss Brno, Indianapolis and San Marino, and return for Portugal in early October and on to the last four races of the 2009 season.
