Jorge Lorenzo won his maiden MotoGP victory today at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.

The Fiat Yamaha rider took the lead on lap 13 of the 28-lap race from Dani Pedrosa for second and then Yamaha teammate Valentino Rossi, who had been leading since lap three. Lorenzo and Pedrosa are now jointly leading the championship.

Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards thus took fourth after Andrea Davidozio and Repsol Honda's Nicky Hayden both crashed on lap 16 and 17 and he was followed by the Kawasaki of John Hopkins and the Ducati Marlboro of Casey Stoner in sixth.
