Now that the battle for the championship has been settled with the crowning of Valentino Rossi, the Phillip Island circuit in Australia will host the Australian Grand Prix on October 5th, having held some of the classic premier class races over the years.

Valentino Rossi has won Australian Grand Prix in all World Championship classes so he is capable of adding this year's edition to his 2008 victory total.

For 2007 MotoGP champion, Casey Stoner, the Australian race is a homecoming and the Ducati driver will certainly try to take a second victory in a row in front of his thousands of supporters.

With just eleven points separating himself and Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, Stoner also has the battle for second place in the standings on his mind. In 2007, Pedrosa just missed out on the Australian podium having started from pole position.

The Phillip Island circuit is one of the fastest, most fluid, tracks on the calendar; it continues to provide some of the most spectacular racing in the MotoGP season.
