Canadian Andrew Ranger had a difficult first weekend in the NASCAR K&N East series at the Iowa Speedway but he still believes that with further preparation he would be able to run at the front of the pack.

More than 44 drivers, coming from both the East and West series, took part in the 200-lap race. Ranger, a two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire series’ champion put his car in the 37th spot on the starting grid.

During the race, things were looking good for Ranger as he battled his way up to the 16th place only to suffer from a flat tire with only 50 laps to go.

“During one of the restarts, I was on the outside,” declared Ranger. “The driver on my left hit my car and that bent the fender inward which, 20 laps later, punctured the tire.”

At the end, Ranger was classified 28th after being forced to go into the pits for repairs.

On a much positive note, the Roxton Pond driver believes that hadn’t been for that bad luck, the result could have been excellent.

The team will hold a test session this week on a circuit resembling Martinsville where the next race will be held June 6th and this will give Ranger more seat time.
