Good news for AJ Allmendinger's fans as it was announced that he would remain with Richard Petty Motorsports for at least the next 18 rounds of NASCAR's Sprint Cup.
But following a string of impressive results - including a career-best third place at the Daytona 500 - Allmendinger lies 20th in the championship - the team has managed to secure additional sponsorship, meaning that his deal will now run up to and including the Richmond race in September.
Meanwhile, another driver is not so lucky as Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing has decided to close down its operation for the No.8 car making Aric Almirola looking for another job.
