IndyCar favorite, Danica Patrick tweeted she’s interested in NASCAR, but, says it’s not a different stance than before.

On Saturday morning Tony Stewart opened up reporter’ eyes when he said – following Patrick’s shop of Newman-Haas Racing on Monday – he was confident that the diminutive open wheeler would be in NASCAR sometime.

Stories flew around the world following that press conference.

Apparently, they hit home in Patrick camp. On Sunday morning, from her Twitter account, she wrote “The rumors are flying about nascar!... I did talk to Tony and he is a great guy. We are looking at nascar as I have always said.”

While it is true that she has been coy about keeping her options open, Stewart said on Saturday she told him, “this is what I want to do,” means to most observers it’s not a matter of if, but, when and how she makes the transition.

Earlier this year Patrick said that she wouldn’t consider “lower formulas” meaning Nationwide, but, after observing the struggles of Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish at the Cup level, she’s backed off that position.

While it’s likely she’ll renew with Andretti Racing, in IndyCar, for next year, don’t be surprised if you see her in some stock car races, at lower levels in 2010.
