Chip Ganassi will try to become the first ever team owner to win in the same year North America’s three most notable motorsports events; the Daytona 500, the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400.
Having already won the first two this year, the team will try its best to win this week-end’s Brickyard 400 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
Jamie McMurray won the Sprint Cup series season-opening Daytona 500 before Dario Franchitti took a dominant win at the famed Indianapolis 500 in the IZOD IndyCar series.
Although Ganassi is happy with the way things have turned out so far this year, he admits his NASCAR outfit is not up to speed in lower profile events, which add up just as much as the big ones in the standings.
Ganassi’s star racer Juan Pablo Montoya is the only driver to lead laps in the Indianapolis 500, the US GP and the Brickyard 400 at Indy.
