NASCAR: Incorrect rumours about the Nationwide Series

The fact that NASCAR has banned a lot of testing in all its divisions will surely hamper the development of the Nationwide "Car of Tomorrow". But, according to Joe Balash, series director, rumours about delaying the introduction of the new cars in 2010 are not founded.

Indeed, the new formula for the Nationwide series will be in effect starting in 2010. But before getting there, some manufacturers need to do a lot of testing including works on the new bodies (that still have to be officially disclosed).

We have recently seen some of the "new" cars on a track, the most significant being a Dodge Challenger but nothing has been confirmed yet. Add to the new testing rules more difficult economic days in the United States that have been impacting the NASCAR teams.

On the other hand, another unfounded rumour has been flying around Montreal saying that the NASCAR Nationwide race to be held next August at Le Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve might be cancelled.

Once again, this rumour is false, according to Paul Wilson from Stock-Car Montreal. Actually, it is this promoting body that was worried about the American series being in trouble. But Mr Wilson has reassured us, it is not so and the Nationwide race in Montreal is on!
