Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing and chairman of ROUSH® Enterprises, was upgraded to fair condition Sunday evening at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., according to a RFR press release.
He will continue to be treated at Mayo Clinic for facial injuries sustained in a plane accident last week in Oshkosh, WI.There has been no timetable set for his release from the hospital.
Greg Biffle, who won Sunday’s Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway in a Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion, spoke to his boss from Victory Lane.
In a post-race interview Biffle said “in Victory Lane he told me that he had never met somebody that had the will to win like I do. He said he didn't say that because I drive for him; he said he feels that out of any of the drivers. You know kind of put goose bumps on my arms. I'm glad he thinks of me like that. I give 110% all the time, I never give up. No matter how grim the outcome can be, I'll still be digging no matter what. That's what I did today. I just kept after it in the racecar, took every advantage that I could get.”
Carl Edwards, Biffle’s teammate who finished third spoke with Roush before the race. “He was Jack,” Edwards explained, adding ‘Don’t mess anything up. Don’t wreck.’ ‘I hope I don’t break any parts for you and I’ll see you soon.’ He was excited for the race today. I could hear it in his voice. He’s been through a lot this last week. He needed a race today. I wish he could be here, but he really needed that victory. That’s pretty cool. I’m sure he is very hard to handle for all those nurses right now in the hospital.”
RFR drivers raced with a decal with the words “Get back to the track, Jack” with a drawing of Roush’s signature fedora hanging from a jaunty angle from the top of the “J.”
