Kevin Harvick had a mathematical chance at his first title provided some excitement as this pit crew put him in position to win the race, if not the Cup, only to have it taken away by a pit road speeding violation.
After been sent to the back of the field Harvick’s charge to the front included an incident with Kyle Busch, sending the younger Busch into the wall, where it bounced off and lit his car on fire. Busch was not injured.

Harvick and Busch had clashed earlier in the race. Harvick said of Busch, "he raced me like a clown all day. Three wide, on the back bumper, running into me, and I just had enough."
Busch retorted that Harvick was "two faced" following a pre-race cordial discussion.
