This time, it was more of an economy run than a last lap dash at the Phoenix NASCAR Sprint Cup 500 miler on Saturday evening as Hendrick Motorsport's.

Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) barely made it on fuel to the checker flag followed by Clint Bowyer (Chevy No 07) and Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11).

Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) who made a last minute fuel stop got fourth place followed by veteran Mark Martin (Chevy No 8) who led most of the last laps of the race until he pitted.

Ironically, though he could do no better than 33rd, Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) was the best of the Gillett-Evernham racing team as his team mates Kasey Kahne (Dodge No 9) and Elliott Sadler (Dodge No 19) had to quit with tire and mechanical problems.
