Kurt Busch will fill-in for Brad Keselowski at Saturday’s Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen on Saturday.

Keselowski, who won the rain delayed Pocono 500 last Sunday, suffered an avulsion fracture of an ankle last week during testing of a Cup car at Road Atlanta last week and still needs more time to heal for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race.

A road course is more demanding on a driver’s feet, ankles and legs due to the need to shift and brake many times a lap.

“Reason for Kurt driving- After phys therapy session last night, it became obvious that progress was slower then hoped,” said Keselowski’s Twitter stream. Although I'm Getting better, driving severely aggravates my ankle & back. So rather then take 2 steps forward with rehab and 2 back with Nns/cup Just cup.”

Kurt Busch had the following reaction “I have always tried to be a great team player throughout my career and I am happy to help out our Penske Racing Team over on the Nationwide side this weekend at the Glen.

With the incredible effort Brad Keselowski put forth last weekend in winning Sunday’s race at Pocono, we think it’s a smart move to let him focus on just the Sprint Cup action this weekend. We were able to win the race the last time we battled it out on a Saturday at the Glen back in 2006. We’re looking forward to being behind the wheel of the No. 22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge this weekend.”

With Jimmie Johnson making a rare Nationwide Series appearance Saturday’s race could be extra-interesting due to the ongoing feud has with the elder Busch.
