While Kyle Busch may make millions of dollars for driving 200mph on some NASCAR race tracks, the people of North Carolina didn’t like it when he drove 128mph on a local road with a posted speed limit of 45mph on May 24th of this year.

Busch, currently the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was driving a limited edition Lexus LFA valued at around $400,000, with his wife as a passenger, when stopped by local police.

In a court appearance in Iredell County, North Carolina the 26 year-old pleaded guilty to the speeding charge and no contest to reckless and careless driving.

The judge, H. Thomas Church threw the book at the young NASCAR star suspending Busch’s driver’s license for 45-days, fining him $1,000, sentenced him to 30 hours of community service and put on one year of unsupervised probation. The judge also issued a suspended 30-day jail sentence.

According to Busch’s attorneys worse offenders were not treated as harshly as Busch was. That said Busch is probably the highest profile person seen in that court on those charges.

Busch is allowed to compete in NASCAR a driver’s license is not required for a competition license.

Back in May Busch told reporters: “I’m certainly sorry that it happened and my actions led me to speed,” Busch said when asked what he was thinking. “It was a lack of judgement, and all I can do is apologize to the public, my friends, my fans, my sponsors and everybody and look at this experience as a learning experience and move forward.”
