NASCAR Montreal: Admission-free August 18 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Thursday August 18 will be "Discovery Day” at the NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge on circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

The public will be admitted for free that day, starting at 9 a.m. Fans will be able to select the grandstand seats of their choice and witness on-track action that will feature the exciting Grand-Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototypes and GT class sports cars, the sleek Canadian Touring Car Championship production cars and free of charge on "Discovery Day", the roaring stock-cars of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

A fan favourite is also on tap with the return of the ever-popular autograph session that will feature Québec racing stars competing in Montreal. The autograph session is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Fans will be able to meet with Nationwide Series drivers Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier, Andrew Ranger, Alex Tagliani and Maryeve Dufault in the infield portion of the track. Joining them at the table will be Canadian Tire Series drivers Donald Theetge, Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, Patrice Brisebois and Isabelle Tremblay, as well as several soon-to-be-named Québec drivers competing in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. For the first time since 2009, fans attending "Discovery Day" will be able to hear the roar of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series engines as 37 drivers take part in a free practice session.

This will be the crowning moment of "Discovery Day" and those in attendance will be able to watch free of charge from the grandstand seats of their choice, the Dodges of Jean-François Dumoulin, who will carry the number 04, the number 12 of Alex Tagliani, the 26 of Andrew Ranger, the 47 of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the 71 of Patrice Brisebois.

Also on track will be the number 80 Chevrolet of Donald Theetge and the number 07 Ford of Isabelle Tremblay. Organizers urge the public to use the Montréal public transit system to access Circuit Gilles Villeneuve via the metro to Jean Drapeau station, which is located on Sainte-Hélène Island.

Tickets for the 2011 Montreal NAPA Auto Parts 200, presented by Dodge are currently on sale. Those attending "Discovery Day" can also buy tickets for Friday and Saturday at the booth located next to the lavatory at Jean Drapeau station.
