Canadians Patrick Carpentier, Jacques Villeneuve, Ron Fellows and Andrew Ranger made it into the Top 8 during this afternoon's last free practice session of the NASCAR Nationwide series at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

However, the repetitive red flags caused the teams and drivers some concerns in terms of tire usage.

NASCAR Canadian Tire series' reigning champion Andrew Ranger did extremely well in his first outing in a Nationwide car, setting the 8th fastest time.

Ron Fellows, driving the GoDaddy.com Chevy also drove strongly, finishing in 7th place.

Villeneuve and Carpentier told us that they did not used new tires at all during this session. "It's a shame, because I would have liked to see what the balance of the car was with new tires on," said Carpentier.

Qualifying will be staged tomorrow, just before the race itself.
