Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut next Saturday at Watkins Glen, New York, driving for the Baker-Curb Racing team.

Nelsinho, the former Renault F1 driver, will race this weekend in what will be his 8th stock car event and his 5th in one of NASCAR's national top series, following four outings in the Camping World Truck Series, where he has achieved three top-ten finishes.

This will also be Piquet’s first outing on a road-course event in NASCAR, a type of circuit he is most at ease.

The son of three-time F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet Sr. will be behind the wheel of the No. 27 Ford Fusion for Baker-Curb Racing.

"I'm really excited to do my first road course NASCAR race in the Nationwide series with Baker Curb Racing," said Piquet. "I can't wait to get back in the driving seat! I've had a good year having positive experiences in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the ARCA Racing Series.

Piquet is apparently working on a deal to compete on another road course, the circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal for the NAPA 200 NASCAR Nationwide race at the end of August.
