NAPA Auto Parts confirmed on Wednesday that road racer Patrick Carpentier will be a competitor in the NAPA 200 to be held on the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit in Montreal next August.

A former ChampCar and IndyCar competitor, Carpentier will be behind the wheel of the No 99 NAPA Toyota Camry entered by Michael Waltrip Racing.

The organisers of the race - Stock-Car Montreal - were also pleased to announce that it has renewed its partnership with NAPA for three years, covering 2009, 2010 and 2011.

This year's Nationwide race weekend is scheduled from Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30, and will be run on an off weekend for the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers.

"I am really pleased to have secure one of the best car in the series," said Carpentier.

"Toyota is the engine to have in the Nationside series. The car is quick and I will work alongside a very good crew chief. We will test the track at Kershaw, North Caroline before the Montreal race, so we should have a very good set-up. I just hope to finish one position higher than I did in the previous two races!" said Carpentier, who finished twice in second place.
