Following the confirmation of Patrick Carpentier, Carl Edwards and Marcos Ambrose for the 2009 edition of the Montreal NAPA Auto Parts 200, JR Motorsports announced today that road course ace Ron Fellows will be joining them to defend his Nationwide race title on August 29-30 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The Toronto resident will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Watkins Glen International Speedway on August 8 and at the Montreal event 15 days later with Fastenal on board as the primary sponsor.
A longtime sports car and road racing veteran and class winner at the 24-Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring, Fellows has also scored 19 overall victories in the SCCA Trans-Am Series. Since 1995, Fellows has competed in 48 NASCAR race in the three NASCAR top division series.
His NASCAR credentials include six overall wins - two in the Camping World Truck Series and four Nationwide Series victories, including his Montreal win in 2008 - and two runner-up finishes in Sprint Cup competition. Sixteen of his 17 NASCAR Top-10 finishes were recorded on road courses.
