One of Canada’s favorite sports car drivers, Ron Fellows, has been named to drive the Tommy Baldwin Racing No. 36 Chevrolet Impala in the Spring Cup Series this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

Fellows made his name with sports car wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, three class championships in the American Le Mans Series, two wins in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 19 overall victories in the Trans-Am series driving the factory Corvettes.

No stranger to NASCAR, Fellows has driven to three top-5 Sprint Cup finishes and three Nationwide victories and two NASCAR truck wins at Watkins Glen. He also won in Montreal in 2008. Drivers of this type, who substitute for Sprint Cup regulars, are known as “road course ringers.”

“I look forward to a successful weekend with TBR – one of NASCAR’s true up-and-coming teams,” said Fellows. “Our hope is that a good run will lead to additional exposure and opportunities for TBR and its sponsors, whether supporting us this weekend or beyond.”

“Having Ron in the car this weekend, with his incredible experience and talents, will definitely help us get our road-course program headed in the right direction,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin. “I would like to thank Chevrolet for helping put this together and I look forward to a great weekend.”

Fellows is also listed as driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet of JR Motorsports in Saturday’s Nationwide race.

Tommy Baldwin Racing currently fields the No. 36 and No. 35 Chevrolet Impalas in the Sprint Cup Series. Baldwin, a 12-year NASCAR veteran and former Daytona 500 winning crew chief, formed Tommy Baldwin Racing in 2009. The team is currently competing in its second season in the Sprint Cup Series in 2010.
