Since going on sale in 2000, Chrysler has sold over 1.2 million PT Cruisers. Part of the reason for this success is that the PT has been kept fresh throughout its life with unique special edition models that stood out against the standard cars.
There have been ten of these special edition PT's so far, and an eleventh is about to join the club. Named after a legendary road that's said to be the inspiration for countless movies, songs and TV shows, the latest PT Cruiser is called the Sunset Boulevard Edition.
"The Chrysler PT Street Cruiser Sunset Boulevard Edition joins the Route 66 Edition and Pacific Coast Highway Edition as the third in our Street Cruiser series dedicated to famous highways," says David Rooney, Director of Marketing and Global Communications at Chrysler. "Like the historic roads we're celebrating, the Chrysler PT Cruiser is a classic, and the perfect vehicle for factory customization because it celebrates the journey, as well as the destination."
The latest special-edition model comes wearing a special "Sunset Crystal" paint-job which is accented with various chrome body-trim pieces. Deep-tint glass is fitted for privacy and shade, while a powered moonroof lets in the rays. Special badging is also installed to set this edition apart from the standard model, and it all rolls on a set of 16-inch chrome wheels with touring tires.
PT Cruiser Sunset Boulevard Edition will have an opening price of $16,650 USD when it goes on sale later this summer.
